Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Franklin D. Roosevelt was president of the USA during WWII. He was obligated to remain neutral, and isolate the USA from what was going on. Roosevelt realized that the Nazi Party was dangerous and went against his beliefs, so he allowed the US to provide Britain and France with weapons. Germany then attacked Russia, and the US began to sell weapons and equipment to them as well. The USA military went into war to help the victims. Roosevelt died in April 1945 before the end of the war.
Winston Churchill
Winston Churchill warned of the Nazis and was against Adolf Hitler. Unlike many prime ministers in his time period, he was elected as prime minister of Great Britain in the 1940's. He became prime minister on May 10, 1940, on the same day the German Blitzkrieg invasion of France started. Great Britain was under German invasion and attack, Germany had submarines around Great Britain etc. Churchill became a wartime leader and was nicknamed "the British lion". He had a strong alliance with the US. His morality and spirit was admired by the British people.
Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini were alike. Hitler admired Mussolini both personally and politically; Mussolini believed aggressive military ways, total obedience, and patriotic nationalism. Mussolini was a former journalist. He went into politics and joined the Fascist Party, which called for a one-party state. Hitler was influenced by Fascism, he based Nazism on Fascism and abominating racism. The men were good friends and they even became allies.
General Hideki Tojo
General Hideki Tojo was the prime minister of Japan during World War II. He was a very aggressive man; he believed in dictatorship and total obidience. After he failed to improve relations with the US, he commanded war and to attack Pearl Harbor in December 1941. Tojo gradually started taking over Japan, and like Adolf Hitler, he made himself commander in chief. Japan surrendered the war to impede any further destruction. After WWII Tojo was arrested and sentenced to death because he had caused many of the problems Japan had. Tojo was hung on 23 December 1948.
